Thank you for visiting and for your interest in a Joiful Shih Tzu puppy.

Please read this page in its entirety before submitting your application:

Puppy weight and color:

No guarantee will be given as to the weight of a puppy at maturity nor the color and thickness of the coat.  I can only give my best estimate.  This breed is known to change color as they mature, and almost always will lighten more when they are shaved down.

When is puppy ready to leave:

In California, puppies are legally allowed to go home at 8 weeks, however, I prefer to let my puppies go at 10-12 weeks and longer if the puppy is very tiny.  The weight takes precedence over the age of a puppy for the decision to leave for their home.  The puppy has to be at least 2 lbs., eating well, and has a clean bill of health from my veterinarian.  This is always better for the puppy.   The release of puppies will always be at Joiful Shih Tzu’s discretion for the safety and well-being of the puppies.

What we do to prepare a puppy before leaving:

Puppies will be up to date on vaccination, deworming will be started at 2 weeks, will have a wellness check-up with my vet before leaving.  Potty training will start on pee pads and should be very familiar with the use of them before leaving.  The puppy will experience getting bathe,  hair, and nail trimming will also be introduced.  The goal is that they will get used to the grooming and enjoy the pampering.  Puppies are also placed in a busy area of the house once they are ready to be weaned so that they can get used to hearing noises and also be near the other adult dogs.  This helps the puppies to be well socialized and get used to daily routines and schedules.

Wait List:

Please fill out the application form located on our "Contact Us" page.  Once you've submitted your information, we will follow-up with you regarding your application and if approved, we will accept a non-refundable deposit of $100 to hold your spot on a future litter.  Priority waitlist position is based on the order deposit is received.  Your deposit will be transferred to the next litter if a puppy of your preference is not produced or decide to wait on another litter.  Deposits will always be applied to the price of the puppy.

Please note:  The $100 waitlist deposit is not mandatory to be on our list, however, the ones with the deposit will be offered the available puppies first.

Puppies will be offered to the priority waitlist in the order the deposit is received, then it will be offered to the waitlist without a deposit in the order application was received, and finally to the general public.

Puppy Hold Fee:

A buyer will have 24 hours to decide to place a deposit or will pass on the puppy offered.  If a buyer decides to place a puppy on hold,  a holding fee of $500 is due the same day when a puppy is chosen.    This fee will be applied to the price of the puppy.   The holding fee is not received within 24 hours or Joiful Shih Tzu doesn't hear back from the buyer, the next person on the waitlist will be notified.  Buyer will be contacted via email, text, or phone call.     This fee is non-refundable but is transferable on or before the puppy turns 6 weeks.  After 6 weeks, the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.  The Puppy Replacement Guarantee contract has to be reviewed,  signed, and returned together with the holding fee.

Final Payment:

Full payment must be received on or before the puppy turns 8 weeks old.  Only cash is accepted if paying for the balance at pick up.

If a puppy is chosen at 8 weeks or older,  full payment is due immediately.

If puppies are to be delivered by a pet nanny, full payment is due when the puppy turns 8 weeks old or 2 weeks before the delivery date.  It takes at least a week or two to schedule a flight.

The price range is $2500-3500 on a strict spay and neuter contract. Prices may vary per puppy and litter and are subject to change.

The accepted method of payment:

Zelle, Venmo, USPS money order and cash

Health Guarantee:

A one-year Replacement Guarantee against congenital diseases that are life-threatening to the puppy.  This replacement guarantee does not cover issues that are common to the Shih Tzu breed such as tight nostrils, open fontanels, hernia (umbilical or inguinal).  These usually correct on their own or can be surgically repaired during spay/neuter if your vet deems it necessary.

Please do your due diligence and research all about raising a puppy and what it entails, and learn about the Shih Tzu breed before making a commitment to bring one of these precious furbaby homes.  There is a lot to know about raising a puppy, time, cost, discipline, training, consistency, patience,  etc.  These furbabies will be with their families for a long time, and our goal is to find a loving and caring home that is prepared to spoil our little ones.  We do not want any of ours to end up in shelters, so we do want you to remember that we will take them back if for any reason you will no longer be able to care for your Shih Tzu, no monetary refunds, but we will help your puppy or dog find another loving home.

Puppy pick up or delivery:

The puppy can be personally picked up or delivered by me at an agreed location and distance.  For puppies that need to travel far, I recommend using a pet nanny.  This service is separate fees and paid directly to the pet nanny.

Fees range from $400 to-500.  This is an airport to airport delivery.

Joiful Shih Tzu reserves the right to first pick of the litter.

Joiful Shih Tzu puppies are available to pampered PET homes only.

We do not sell to puppy mills, pet shops, or puppy brokers.   The care and well-being of our puppies is our priority, therefore, we reserve the right to refuse to sell our puppy if we feel it's not in their best interest.  If the deposit has been made, a refund will be issued.  This is the only time monies will be refunded.
